Question for T.L. Taylor

Professor Taylor,

I was very intrigued by your observations of pro-gamers bringing their own mice, mousepads, keyboards, and the like to tournaments in order to step up their “home field advantage”.  Your reference to Emma Witkowski on “glitchy” scenarios brought to my mind a casual proverb that I’ve held on to for a few months:  A good chess player thinks ten steps ahead; but a great chess player thinks only one step ahead.  Thus my question for you is as follows:

Since pro-gamers seem to rely heavily on the quality/familiarity of the equipment they’re using, do you think there will ever emerge a type of pro-gaming that forces all competitors to use the same gear?

Thank you!
