One of the most interesting takeaways of the TL Taylor presentation was how certain “masculine” characteristics carry over to types of video games. Stereotypes exist for sports like football where the players are “meatheads” and it was surprising that gamers differentiate between each other such as how CounterStrike players were the “football” players while Starcraft players were the “chess players.”
The segregation of gender in video games doesn’t make any sense to me and remains one of the biggest questions I have moving forward. How common are mixed gender teams in the video game world? Why would you ever split up male and female teams in to different brackets when there is no genetic difference that could affect video game play?
